How to sew a patch onto your bag
As a designer, I was hugely influenced by backpackers’ bags, which featured patches collected from all over the world and sewn onto their backpacks. How do you put patches on a nylon backpack?
You could bond the patch on if it’s made of nylon for a more secure solution.
- Purchase a silicone seam sealer from a hardware store, such as McNETT SilNet, or any 100% silicone sealant.
- Spread the sealant thinly on the back of your patch.
- Stick the patch to the pack.
- Apply pressure evenly over the patch with something heavy.
How do you iron a patch onto a backpack?
Place patches on backpack as desired. To apply each patch individually, place a pressing cloth between the patch and the iron and press down for 30 seconds, evenly covering the patch with heat.
Can you sew a patch on nylon?
In most cases, people sew patches on clothes to cover up damaged or torn parts of the fabric. Because nylon is susceptible to wear and tear, owners can stitch patches on to the jacket to compensate for the damage and extend the life of the jacket.
