Fabric and Other Supplies
8 standard drapery pin-on hooks, 80curtain rings with eyelets, and 2u00be yards of medium-welded fabric are included in this kit for a 50u2033 x 84u2033 curtain panel.
Getting Started
To attach the exterior fabric to the lining, you’ll need the finished width plus a minimum of 2u2033 on each side for the side hem plus the side seam allowances. For our panel, the equation was: 50u2033 u2013 3u2033 1u2033 = 48u2033.
At Your Sewing Machine & Ironing Board
Pull the lining panel to align with the opposite side of the curtain panel. Pin and stitch this second side with a u00bd seam allowance, lining up the top raw edges and sewing from the top to the bottom. It is best to keep the outermost hooks no more than about u00bd in from each side to prevent any weird “drooping.”
How do you sew drapery rings?
Sew curtain rings to the backs of the panels, attaching them at the top hem line with a tacking technique: sew two or three stitches in the same place, one on top of the other, then secure with a back stitch. Do not sew through to the outside layer of the curtain.

Is it cheaper to make your own curtains?
Apart from saving a few pennies on your curtains, you should also consider whether it is time-wise for you; convenience is a big factor these days, and while sewing curtain fabrics is less expensive, it does take a lot of time.
Should curtain rings match curtain rod?
While your curtain rods don’t have to match, if they’re in adjacent rooms, they should at least coordinate; alternatively, if the spaces are distinct enough to allow for different treatments, you can switch it up.
