Step 1 – Measure the Bed

This bed is 12 by 19 inches (30.5×48.2cm) and was purchased from IKEA. Make sure you measure the base of the bed only, not the sides, as you want the mattress to fit snugly inside the bed frame.

Step 2 – Cut the Fabric

Cut two pieces of fabric the size of the base plus a 1-inch (2.5cm) seam allowance all the way around for a doll mattress, and a bed for your doll, 14 x 21 inches (35.5 cmx53.3cm).

Start stuffing your mattress the right way out, breaking down polyester fill into small tufts if using. You want your mattress to look flat and not overstuffed, so go slowly and make sure you have stuffing in the corners to give it a good shape.

Step 6 – Close the Gap

For an invisible closure, hand stitch the gap closed with a ladder stitch, or sew the gap shut with scissors.
