My parents surprised me with a brand new sewing machine for my Confirmation when I was in seventh grade. You’d be surprised how far the “basics” in sewing can really get you. The joy quickly faded as sewing by hand took a long time. I made my own swimsuit, doll clothes, comforter, and other items before the age of fifteen.
