How do you add fabric to a knitted blanket?
You don’t need to own a sewing machine u2014 or even be skilled in sewing u2014 to attach fabric to your knits. Simply cut the fabric to fit the knitting, then sew it on with a few running stitches. Ah, but it’s a little more complicated than that.
How do you put a backing on a blanket?
Lay the batting on the table, then the backing on top of the batting, right side up, and the front of the blanket on top of that, right side down, to make a blanket sandwich.
Can you add a border to a knit blanket?
A knit-on border on a finished piece of knitting can add cohesion to a pattern made up of multiple blocks, or it can simply make an afghan or blanket look more finished.
How do you attach appliques to knitting?
Work decorative blanket stitch (left) in a contrast color yarn to make the appliquu00e9 shape stand out. Pin and tack the appliquu00e9 shape in place on the garment. Sew in place using the same yarn, picking up one strand from the background and one from the edge of the shape.

Why do the edges of my knitting curl?
When working a pattern with knits and purls on both sides, the difference in stitch size doesn’t matter; however, when working in stockinette stitch, where all the knit stitches are on one side of the work, the knitting tends to curl.
How do you pick up a knitted border?
Cast on the stitches for your border onto one of the wooden needles, and knit the first row as usual until there is one stitch left. Slip the stitch to the right needle without knitting it, and use the free needle to pick up the border stitches on the piece, one stitch every two rows.
