Many sewists still find invisible zippers stressful, but they don’t have to be! Here are the three “secrets” to a perfect zip: Always interface the zipper area. Stitch the zipper with a smaller seam allowance than the main seam.
Preparing the inverted box pleats
There are four pleats in total, three in the front and three in the back, each with a seam allowance of about 1cm (0.7cm).
How do you put an invisible zip in a skirt?
Place the zip in the center of the fabric with the zipper teeth on the bottom and the zipper pull on the top, then open the flap on the right hand piece of fabric all the way over the zipper and pick up both together to pin and sew them together as shown in the picture.
How do you fold a pleated skirt?
Lay a fully pleated skirt flat or fold in half lengthwise between dry cleaner bags toward the bottom of your bag to keep it looking sharp; if you have an accordion pleat on a dress, go to your local dry cleaner and ask for a few of the plastic clips used on men’s shirts.

But you don’t need a special foot to sew a great invisible zipper application; all you need is a regular zipper foot. Finish the edges where the invisible zipper will be applied first.
How much fabric do you need for a pleated skirt?
To make a 1u201d pleat, multiply the waist measurement by 3 and add seam allowances for each edge. For example, if your waist measurement is 25u201d and you want to make a fully pleated skirt with 1u201d-wide pleats, multiply the waist measurement by 3 and add seam allowances for each edge.
