Gather Your Materials
To sew a pair of underwear, you only need a few basic materials, so here’s a list of what you’ll need. Choose a comfortable and breathable knit fabric for your underwear. Use clips instead of pins on PUL (Polyurethane laminate) fabrics.

Choose an Absorbent Layer
A good absorbent layer, such as Zorb, fleece, or flannel, will work best with your period underwear. Zorb is a brand of “super absorbent fabric,” specifically designed to absorb liquid, and it’s less bulky than the other absorbent options I’ve looked into.
Match Your Flow
You can layer Zorb for extra absorbency if you have a heavier flow, and a leakproof layer, in combination with an absorbent layer, will keep you dry. Polyurethane laminateu2014or PUL0fabrics are leakproof and are commonly used for waterproof sewing.
Personalize Your Period Underwear
If you want more lace, consider hacking the front to have princess panels and sewing lace on top of the seams.
