How to Build an Outdoor Air Conditioner Cover
The outdoor AC cover design includes widely spaced slats to allow proper airflow, and the project is a simple 3-sided box to shield an air conditioning unit from sight and act as a bit of a safety guard for children. Follow the steps below to build this AC cover yourself.
1. Cut the Pieces
1. Cut the pieces to size using my cut list.
2. Build a Side Panel
To make sure it fits perfectly over two uprights and a gap in the top edge of the table, follow these simple steps, then measure across the bottom of the gap for stability.
3. Space the Slats
Step 1: Place the first board on its side, then use the edge of a cutoff to position the second board, and then screw the third board into place, repeating this process until the uprights of your upright piano bench are covered in boards.
5. Attach the Front Slats
Now glue and screw the remaining board to the remaining upright, and repeat until all of the boards are installed on the upright.
6. Cut and Install the Cap Pieces
Next, cut the center cap to size to create a u00be-inch overhang over the front and sides of the assembly, then position and screw the cap pieces in place.
7. Install the Assembly
Dig 7-inch-deep holes at each leg’s location, place a leg in each hole, level the assembly with a 4-feel level, and mark the leg placement. Remove the assembly, fill in the holes around the legs, and reposition them.
Slats: 24 @ 48 inches (miter ends at 45-degree angles), 2 x 2 Corners: 4 @ 48 inset, 1 x 4 Front Caps: 1 @ 480inters, 2 x 4 Side Caps: 2 @ 48.
