Easy to Make Fabric Flowers DIY Instructions
We’ll show you how to make two different floral designs using scrap fabric and a hot glue gun in just a few minutes. They’re a great way to use up fabric scraps, and best of all, they only take a few minutes to make.
Materials
I like to attach alligator hair clips or brooch backing with a hot glue gun for extra fluffiness, but the same amount of tulle can also be made with felt for a fancier touch.
Make fabric flowers – rounded style
In this section, I’ll show you how to make a rounded flower, which works best with fabrics that are colored on the “wrong side,” as well as fabrics that are stiff or springy, so the flower holds its shape.
Step 1 – Prepare your materials
Cut out 9 circles of fabric, each about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter; this will be the size of the finished flower; if you’re adding tulle to your flower, you’ll need nine circles of tulle as well.
Step 2 – Glue your flower together
Glue the first petal to the felt circle, then glue the next three petals on top of each other, finishing with a blob of hot glue in the center.
Step 3 – Finish off your flower
You can leave it as is or add a button, pearl, or bling to give it a little more oomph – here’s an example.
Step 4 – Glue on a clip
Place a small ring of hot glue on the circle of felt and attach it to a small hair clip. Clip can be attached to a brooch backing or sewn directly onto an outfit or bag.
